Residence History – Cotswold Stone

Here at The Residence Collection we are lucky to have our head office based in Gloucestershire, part of the picturesque Cotswolds region. We’re so inspired by our surroundings we looked to it when curating our colour range.

One of the many things The Cotswold’s is known for is the beautiful light-coloured limestone cottages, made from what is locally referred to as Cotswold Stone.

Cotswold Stone is a pale cream and gold toned stone made from a type of limestone composed of long buried marine organisms formed from the Jurassic period. It is quarried exclusively from the hillsides surrounding the South Midland area of England, known as The Cotswold Edge. With its attractive colour and unique chalky and granular texture, its an easy stone to work with and was popularised as a building material in the middle ages.
