William Morris is one of Britain’s most prolific designers. Associated with the British Arts and Crafts Movements, his design ethos was to manufacture something for the love of the craft, not for money. During his lifetime, Morris produced items in a range of crafts, mainly those to do with furnishing including over 600 designs for wall-paper, textiles, and embroideries.
His designs were inspired by nature, subtle evocation of natural forms.
Many of the buildings associated with his life are open to visitors, much of his work can be found in art galleries and museums, and his designs are still in production.
